First Grade

My name is Deena Overbye, and I am thrilled to be your child’s first grade teacher this year! I graduated from the University of Georgia in December 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduation I received my ESOL endorsement and taught Pre-K from January 2013 until May 2014. This is my third year teaching first grade at Oak Grove Elementary. I received my gifted certification while teaching my first year here.

I grew up in a neighborhood nearby and have always had a passion for teaching. I specifically enjoy working with this age group and am so happy to be part of the Oak Grove community as a first grade teacher. I am looking forward to working with your child as he/she learns and grows throughout the course of the year.
